Super Moon

Considering the fact that my lack of luck kills my enthusiasm any give day, I gave up planning for my photo shoot for the SuperMoon. Every time I plan for a big event I start with a wide smile which turns into a telephotic frown by the end of the day.

morning afternoon evening
=====================================>>>>>

Not this time, I am not going to let Indra(god of rain) disappoint me with his presence . The best way to escape from disappointment would be to not have any expectations no expectations no regerts :) , so i decided i aint gonna get my gear out today.
I spent the rest of the evening watching some movie which was kinda lame. I couldn't resist but look for the moon from time to time though. Oh yeah it finally did rise and so did the clouds. It more or less looked like the moon was behind a shoot through umbrella or something, looked kinda cool though but not a rare sight. I went back to the movie and was convinced with my decision.

It turned out to a typical weekend I watched a movie to kill time and it in turn killed me boy i am glad i dont even remember the title of the movie. Then i had couple of rounds of my favorite Glenfedich scotch. It was around 3 am now, I had to go to bed to not miss my lunch the next day. I took a peek through the blinds to find a huge crystal ball glowing bright like never before it was beautiful indeed. Next second I was out with my gear with my monkey cap on.

I spent the next hour in the cold lonely silent night admiring the moon and kept my camera busy.

This one with a warmer WB

Considering the fact the moon was big which in turn made it equally bright I was shooting at about 1/2000 of a sec aperture set at F4 iso 200 , focal length : 200mm Lens Canon 70 -200 F2.8 non IS . focus set at manual . Lesson learned - do not set the focus at infinity you sure dont want to end up with a bunch of fuzzy moon pictures. The moon is not at infinity its approximately 384 404 km away from your camera.

What happened next , well thanks to the scotch and the moon I had a sound sleep (skipped my lunch of course ).

The End

The Story Ends something like this. I have always loved photography, right from my childhood. Though i never really got to try my hands on it until 1 years back from now. Given the fact that my Grand Father was a professional photographer i assume he must have had some influence on me ( none that i remember though ). I come from a "middle class" family which implies everything apart from food, water, shelter and education is considered to be luxury. So at no point could i ask my parents to buy me a camera. Then came a day, my uncle who lived on the top floor ( yeah you got it right "Upper Middle Class") traveled to Singapore ( yeah that was USA back then Not USA). You see as a kid i was fascinated by stars ,planets and ever thing above 60 thousand miles (don't ask me if i am not fascinated now coz i am still a kid in many aspects so it still applies) . So after a prolonged debate and discussion at the House (Senate) my father passed the bill that he would allocate 1000Rs ($20) towards my telescope that I had always wanted to get. He telephoned my uncle and spent 20 Min's explaining what a telescope was . How I wished I could just erase the next 30 days. I had these weird dreams of my uncle returning back the next day with a telescope earlier than scheduled coz they dropped a nuke on Singapore (all tat mattered then was he got back early with a telescope). Finally the day came and so did my uncle and with him he also brought my old friend Disappointment. As it makes sense to me now 1000 Rs wasn't sufficient to get a device which lets you see beyond the dark blue skies. But then there was a consolation, he did get something which i dint really know if i liked at that point. He got me a camera a point and shoot film camera. Though I was glad he got a camera I was disappointed that he couldn't get me a telescope. The problem with a film camera is that the expense doesn't stop with the camera. There is film cost and then there is negative development cost and then of course the cost to get those artfully taken awful pictures printed. Which meant days of mucking around with the camera taking all possible shots with innovative set up with out the film. Which was cool of course for the first few weeks but then soon the camera would sit in the locker for a long hibernation. I did take a few pictures once in awhile some turned out good some i couldn't explain some funny some sad and some weird but all expensive given the budget I had. Time doesn't stop for anyone including me so i grew up with my friends Shyness , Laziness , Disappointment , Discipline ( Oh he is not my friend anymore I fought with him long back). I finally got a job and things changed, like most of my classmates I traveled to USA earned money and once I had enough I got my self a DSLR finally I could do what I wanted to, what I liked. I loved my Camera with all my heart. But then the story doesn't end with "And they lived together happily every after " rather it turned out to be a bad marriage . We would have great time together once in a while but then it was an unhappy union I spent less time with her. Its almost a year past now. So here I stand, I want to get rid of all the bad company I have been with. I want to love what I do. I want to respect what I have. I want to learn. I want to have fun. The first step towards all this is to make new friends and the first new friend I made today is "MyRGB". Every one is invited on this journey towards better youself. So here "The Story Begins".
