Super Moon

Considering the fact that my lack of luck kills my enthusiasm any give day, I gave up planning for my photo shoot for the SuperMoon. Every time I plan for a big event I start with a wide smile which turns into a telephotic frown by the end of the day.

morning afternoon evening
=====================================>>>>>

Not this time, I am not going to let Indra(god of rain) disappoint me with his presence . The best way to escape from disappointment would be to not have any expectations no expectations no regerts :) , so i decided i aint gonna get my gear out today.
I spent the rest of the evening watching some movie which was kinda lame. I couldn't resist but look for the moon from time to time though. Oh yeah it finally did rise and so did the clouds. It more or less looked like the moon was behind a shoot through umbrella or something, looked kinda cool though but not a rare sight. I went back to the movie and was convinced with my decision.

It turned out to a typical weekend I watched a movie to kill time and it in turn killed me boy i am glad i dont even remember the title of the movie. Then i had couple of rounds of my favorite Glenfedich scotch. It was around 3 am now, I had to go to bed to not miss my lunch the next day. I took a peek through the blinds to find a huge crystal ball glowing bright like never before it was beautiful indeed. Next second I was out with my gear with my monkey cap on.

I spent the next hour in the cold lonely silent night admiring the moon and kept my camera busy.

This one with a warmer WB

Considering the fact the moon was big which in turn made it equally bright I was shooting at about 1/2000 of a sec aperture set at F4 iso 200 , focal length : 200mm Lens Canon 70 -200 F2.8 non IS . focus set at manual . Lesson learned - do not set the focus at infinity you sure dont want to end up with a bunch of fuzzy moon pictures. The moon is not at infinity its approximately 384 404 km away from your camera.

What happened next , well thanks to the scotch and the moon I had a sound sleep (skipped my lunch of course ).
